For the Honor of Greyskull - YOU Have the Power!

Mattel is trying to get a special Princess of Power figure series out to commemorate She-Ra's 30th Anniversary, but it needs more support.

Since 2008, Mattel has been producing Masters of the Universe Classics action figures, a 6" toy line that has been delivering characters from all of the various incarnations of He-Man and his supporting cast.  Each month, subscribers (and some non-subscribers) receive at least one figure from some part of the Masters mythos - whether the source be the original toy line, the 80s cartoons, New Adventures (He-Man in space!) or the 200X Cartoon Network reboot.  She-Ra and the Princess of Power characters have had some presence in the line, but there are still several major characters missing.

Enter Club Etheria - a special limited subscription that features seven Princess of Power characters and one sassy household cleaning implement.  If you aren't familiar with MattyCollector's figure subscriptions, think of it as a Kickstarter for toys.  People buy a subscription - basically pledging to buy everything produced for that sub - for one year, usually only knowing about half of what is going to be scheduled.  If they get enough people to sub, they move forward into production - which is basically how MOTUC has managed to deliver over 100 different figures in a 6 year period.  But if they don't, no figures.  DC Universe Classics and Ghostbusters are two lines that were cancelled due to not enough subscribers.

The plan for this mini subscription is to produce seven figures (six at $25 plus shipping, the seventh at $30 plus shipping) - one of which will only be available to subscribers and will not be sold separately on MattyCollector as part of their monthly sale.  The other six figures will be released monthly, starting in July and going through December.  So far, we know four out of the seven (and have a pretty solid guarantee on a fifth).  Those four are:

Double Mischief (formerly known as Double Trouble before lapsed trademarks came into play)

Entrapta (she whipped her hair back and forth WAY before Willow Smith did)

BROOM!  (and also Madame Razz)

and finally, the subscriber exclusive...

LIGHT HOPE (who you probably remember looking more like a column of shimmering light and less like the spirit of Obi-Wan doing fancy barbarian cosplay)

A helmet with a bee-like appearance also showed up at Toy Fair, indicating Sweet Bee would also be part of this line.  The December figure is rumored to be Mermista due to a slight increase in the price for it, which could easily be explained by the additional tooling for a mermaid tail that can be swapped out for legs.

However, if Club Etheria doesn't move forward, these figures will be relegated to coming out some time in 2015, or possibly not at all for those that are yet to be announced.  The deadline for subscribing is Monday, March 10th, 2014 - so if you're looking to get some fierce female fighters (and a broom, and Light Hope), you should sign up as soon as possible!
