Some enterprising individuals have created this delightful mashup of Sochi speed skating with weapons and sound effects from Mario Kart. I'd certainly be more likely to watch the games if they were like this, perhaps with a tad less blood and death (and we all know that they're overdue to be featuring Mario and Sonic anyway)
In general, I think sports could do with a little more colorful game-inspired wackiness. Post-apocalyptic football, anyone? And what if NASCAR had its own wacky power-ups? And I swear I heard of a tennis game where you fight Satan, though Google is failing me here. Yes, video games are weird.
