Queer nerds and their fanboys and girls unite in this monthly late night series as comedians, musicians, dancers, and performance artists share their geeky obsessions, ranging from sci-fi to Sondheim. Forget the closet, get out of your mother's basement!
This month's installment of QUEER NOT COOL focuses on "MUSIC" and is hosted by comedian ROB RIBAR and features the hilarious musical improv troupe FANCY MANTELPIECE and songs by queer alt-country artist DAVID CLEMENT ("Drinking Buddy" featuring Marylousie Burke) and the Elton John-esque piano pounder DEREK BISHOP ("Resistance is Beautiful"). The show will also feature a "Nerdy Name That Nerdy Tune" contest complete with fun prizes and a special dance performance by "Marilyn Monroe" (aka "Fuerza Bruta" cast member BEN HOBBS) from the upcoming sci-fact play "Nuclear Love Affair".
QUEER NOT COOL will take place SATURDAY AUGUST 11th at 10:30pm at THE SECRET THEATRE (44-02 23rd Street, Long Island City, Queens). For transportation, take the G, 7, E, or M trains to Court Square or the NR trains to Queensboro Plaza (just 15 minutes or less from midtown, HK, Chelsea, Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Astoria). Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Cheap drinks and snacks will also be available for purchase. Produced by STEPHEN GRIBBIN and ROBERT RIBAR for FEMME FATALE THEATER.
