What We Need Too See in the X-Force Movie

While nothing official was announced at Comic-Con this year, Jeff Wadlow, writer/director of Kick-Ass 2, has confirmed he will be writing a movie adaptation of X-Force. Mark Millar has also teased that the team will only consist of five members. A five person team sounds a lot closer to the more current incarnations of the team--which isn't neccassarilly a bad thing. But here are the things we (and by "we" I mostly mean "I") need to see in an X-Force movie:

- A Rictor/Shatterstar Relationship: This is important to me for many reasons (duh) but, mostly, I think this would be our first real shot at getting a badass gay superhero couple. I think Marvel dropped the ball on not having Moondragon and (ugh) Phylla-Vell/Martyr in Gaurdians of the Galaxy. They could have been really awesome space lesbians. But, Martyr was like a bad Hot Topic teen from 1995, so I understand why they wouldn't want her in the movie (or maybe the joke's on me and she'll make a cameo). And Walt Disney probably would have rolled over in his grave if they had a superhero lesbian couple in one of his movies. But, Fox owns the muatnts, not DIsney. Regardless, Shatterstar and Rictor have a really great relationship and both are pretty great characters. Also, Rob Liefeld, who is the worst, will lose his mind if it happens, so all the more reason to do it. Rictor and Shatterstar were former best friends who became lovers. What other superhero movie could we say starred two men in love as part of the team? And I know they're currently in X-Factor and it's all thanks to Peter David that their relationship even progressed to this point...but, I'd still like to see them in an X-Force movie. X-Force is where they began their relationship anyway. So, please and thank you--I'd like to see both Rictor and Shatterstar.

- Guns: I already said Rob Liefeld is the worst--but, to be fair, he created X-Force. So, while I don't care if they give him a wink and or a nod, I think it'd be a nice service to the fans to have some absurd shootouts. It'd be a nice throwback to the original comic. And I loved that original comic when I was little--absurdly big guns and ridiculously huge shoulderpads and all. So, there should be a lot of guns. They can hold the shoulderpads...but, there should definitely be a lot of guns. They don't even have to be as big as Cable's guns normally are...just have the characters do a lot of shooting. And there is plenty of room for guns in the uber violent more recent incarnations of X-Force. Which leads us to...

- Lots of Violence: It doesn't need to be Kick-Ass level violence, but I wouldn't be mad if it was. It's something I hope we see in The Wolverine--I mean, he has God damned claws coming out of his hands--there should be some blood. And I think some blood would fit with the feel of an X-Force movie. The recent reboot of the comic featured not just Wolverine but X-23, so there was a lot of stabbing going on. I need it to feel grittier than the other X-films (not to say they aren't good--X2 is still one of my favorite superhero movies while X-Men: The Last Stand is, well, the opposite of my favorite).

- A Really Badass Female Mutant: So, Emma Frost, the Cordelia Chase of mutants, in the really good X-Men: First Class movie was horrendous. She wasn't sassy, she wasn't badass, she wasn't bitchy...she was just really pretty. Halle Berry, who I will defend for not being nearly as terrible as everyone says she is, is still not that great of a Storm. Storm! Who is the sometimes God damned leader of the X-Men. The closest we've gotten in the X-films to badass female mutant is Jean Grey. But, then she died at the end of the wonderful X2 and her storyline went to crap and was completely ruined in the third film. So, my votes are for Psylocke, Domino and or X-23. If I could I'd vote for all three of them but I know that'd never happen. I think Domino might fit best, X-23 would be most likely to star in her own movie and Psylocke is...well, a sexy ninja that I love.

- Not Wolverine: While I wouldn't be mad and would completely understand--I'd prefer this X-film not include Hugh Jackman. A cameo maybe? Sure, fine. I thought his cameo in X-Men: First Class was great. But, I don't want him to star in this movie. He has been in every single other X-film...so, let's try and do this one without him. He's still one of my favorite X-Men, but, well, in the movies he tends to take up too much screen time. Not that there's anything wrong with that--I'd just like something different, you know?
