Completely Crushable: Coco’s Nerd Loves

Long before sci-fi spectacles like Heroes or The Faculty, some Buffy-featured baby butch stole my heart.

Like Kate Moennig, Clea Duvall is capable of inspiring the “lesbian lightbulb moment”. I mean, no one is safe from that jawline, that 90s badassery. And you’ve seen But I’m a Cheerleader, right? (WARNING: queer cards revoked if you answer no.) Even in a dowdy blink-and-you’ll-miss-it roll, I was head over Docs for Clea’s sad nerd girl Marcie Ross, villain of Buffy the Vampire SlayersOut of Mind, Out of Sight.

- Marcie's to do list: club a jock to death with his own baseball bat in the locker room, push a blonde off her chunky heels down the stairs, disfigure the face of the Sunnydale’s queen bee. Evil, but I sympathized with her whole ‘vengeance on the popular’ stance.

- Marcie played the flute. Marcie was a band geek. I was in concert orchestra all four years of high school. Marcie and I could have made beautiful music together.

-Marcie/Clea preferred cardigans and short bobs. I prefer girls who prefer cardigans and short bobs. (Bonus: this is the queerbrarian’s everyday look!)

- Eager hand raising, been there.

-For the sad nerd girl on a rampage, concerned about her academics: live at school! In the ceiling above the band room! (Bedroom decor: lamé sheets & sheet music. She might be my soulmate.)

Also, it's true... what you've heard. We all know each other.

Next week: this love just animates me.
