- With just over a month left until the release of Justice League, the new trailer is still playing coy about whether or not the film brings Superman back from the dead (spoiler: of course it does).
- At this year's New York Comic-Con, FOX premiered a trailer for the new season of The X-Files, arriving in time for the show's 25th anniversary. The new season may or may not be Gillian Anderson's last, but I'm hoping it's less of an uneven mess than 2016's Season 10, and with better queer representation.
- Justice League isn't the only obscure art film (yes, that's sarcasm) hitting theaters before year's end. A new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi teases a world-weary Luke Skywalker, the final appearance and ultimate fate of Leia, and the possibility of Rey turning to the dark side. Plus: those adorable porgs (above, with our favorite Wookie Chewie).
- Roswell, the sexy-teen-alien sci-fi/romance series that ran on the WB (and later UPN) for three seasons from 1999-2002, may get a reboot on the CW. The new series would take a topical immigration angle, focusing on a "daughter of undocumented immigrants" who discovers her high school crush is an alien of a different sort.
- The first trailer for the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants places some fan-favorite mutants (Magik, Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, and Sunspot) in a creepy medical institution (quoth the trailer: "This isn't a hospital, it's a haunted house"). It's an odd direction to take, but Fox has thus far had success with its less conventional superhero fare (Deadpool, Logan), so I'm optimistic.
- The phenomenon that is Netflix's Stranger Things returns in less than two weeks (just in time for Halloween) as a final trailer promises more 80s nostalgia, creepy telekinetic kids, and extradimensional tentacled monstrosities.
