  • James Cameron has announced that Linda Hamilton will return to the Terminator franchise in the new film he is developing with Deadpool director Tim Miller. To be honest, if this franchise is going to continue I'd rather it be a total reboot, but it'll at least be interesting to see Hamilton return to the role of one of sci-fi's premier Strong Female Characters.

  • Next spring, Alicia Vikander becomes the second Oscar-winner to take on the role of video game heroine Lara Croft, in Hollywood's latest attempt to break the curse of mediocrity (or worse) that has befallen big-screen game adaptations. The first trailer shows it to be a direct adapation of the gritty 2013 reboot game, although Lara will still acquire her trademark dual pistols by the end of the film.

  • A new TV series based on Archie Comics'Sabrina the Teenage Witch is in the works at the CW, home of Riverdale... but the Melissa Joan Hart version this is not. It will be based on the current, sporadically released (but pretty good) comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which makes a drastic tonal shift into coming-of-age horror. (It's also set in the 1960s, though who knows if the show will keep that up).

  • We first heard rumors back in June, but Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's seminal Watchmen is officially in the works at HBO, with the network ordering a pilot episode and additional scripts. Here's hoping the show's queer representation is more overt than the comic's (it had better be, 30+ years later).
