In a year that saw a mutant marriage and comic cameos by George Takei, GLAAD has announced the nominees for "Outstanding Comic Book" as part of its annual Media Awards. The awards celebrate positive representations and reporting of the queer world, and this year's winners will be announced in ceremonies in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. I'm going to go ahead and assume the comic book category winner will be revealed in the New York show in March, since most of the publishers are headquartered here.
And the nominees are:
Astonishing X-Men by Marjorie Liu (Marvel Comics)
Batwoman by W. Haden Blackman and J.H. Williams III (DC Comics)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Andrew Chambliss, Scot Allie, Jane Espenson and Drew Z. Greenberg (Dark Horse Comics)
Earth 2 by James Robinson (DC Comics)
Kevin Keller by Dan Parent (Archie Comics)
PS: Why aren't there categories for video games?
