New York Comic Con is a fun, stressful, exciting, sweaty weekend where you barely eat, do a LOT of walkng, and are always wondering where the nearest bathroom is.
And, duh, Cosplayers are a big part of the Comic-Con experience. Even if you've never dressed up, you go to cons expecting to see lots of awesome costumes. Some costumes are lazy, some are insanely detailed, and some make you ask, "Can I get a picture with you?"
But, sometimes, not everything said to cosplayers is as simple as "Can I take your picture?" Sometimes they hear things that are really funny/awful/mean/fun/nice. They're treated as though they're wallpaper at NYCC or as though they're being paid to be there. So, I asked cosplayers at NYCC what were some of the most absurd things they overheard at NYCC.
"(starts singing) Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? - I'm Agent Carter..."
Real talk: I asked her hoping I'd get an answer like that
"Oh my f*@k you look like you belong in a boy band!"
::heart eyes emoji::
"Can I take your picture?"
Her answer might be what you kids call shade.
"They asked me if I was a mechanic....really??"
"I overheard someone ask if I was a girl or a guy."
"Will you watch my dog for a minute?"
"Is that supposed to be sexy cosplay?"
"Ewww there's a gay section??? - in front of Geeks Out..."
"...SAID BY A NECKBEARD!!"
Because of course
"Are you Ms. Shazam?"
"That NIGHTWING cosplay is dooooope!"
el oh el
"Your junk is showing"
Don't worry, my eyes immediately went there too.
"HELP I'M NOT DRUNK"
...I have no idea...
"They told me I look like Kim Kardashian."
DANNY DEVITO I LOVE YOUR WORK!
"You playin' ball, man?"
I mean, I'm not NOT tryna play ball with this dude...
"Running from commitment!"
