One Winchester lies to another and the consequences are horrible. As usual.

Sorry this recap is a day late. This was a tough episode for everyone to process, myself included. That said, let's get down to business.

Our cold open is at a medical office where a nice redhaired young lady shows up to sign up for a "clinical trial." We all start yelling at her through the screen that this is bad, but she ignores us and the creepy dude running the trial starts looking deeply at her eyes. She thinks he's putting the moves on her, but no, he just wants to check out the product. She screams anyway so he apparently has no choice but to slice her throat (ew), use a melon-baller to scoop out her eyes (EEEEWWWW) and then jump out a third story window before a janitor catches them.

Sam is dealing with another mess. Namelt that Rowena is have a tough time cracking the encoded codex she needs to use to translate the Book of the Damned. Sam is worried because they're running out of time. After a stop in the bunker to be confrtoned by Dean's growing suspicioins about his increasing absences, attention turns to the gouged out eye gal and the magic jumping bean. The boys decide to head to Omaha but not before Sam makes a few last minute arangements. The first step in Sam's terrible plan is to call Charlie in from wherever she's been in hiding to help out him and Rowena. Charlie rightly tells him that lyng to Dean is BAD and that Sam not destroying the book is BAD. Sam protests that this is their only hope. Sigh. Charlie is in.

Meanwhile in...Louisiana (?) jumping bean has returned home and is geting chewed out by his Father while his cousins and brothers watch. You see, this is the Styne family. Dean reminded Sam about them earlier and how their name and records only went back to the 19th century. It turns out jumping guy - named Eldon - is in trouble for leaving a body behind when harvesting. And another brother - Eli - is in trouble for still not having located Charlie or the Book of the Damned. Everyone is in trouble and Eldon is sent off to clean up his mess and Eli os off to track Charlie.

Charlie is in the secret distillery base being introduced to Rowena, who doesn't see the use of a nerd rather than another witch. Sam is fed up with them, which is why he need Castiel to referee, or at least help out some. Rowena informs Cas that the first rule of the game is to not tell Dean, and it's Cas' turn to be the voice of reason to tell Sam how badly this always goes. Sam delivers a pretty good speech about why they have to do this For Dean, and it's enough to convince the crew. Well except Rowena who is doing this under duress and so Sam will kill her son.

Sam and Dean head to Omaha, Dean assuring Sam that the Mark is just...the same. They get to the crime scene and through remarkabley well focused surveillance footage determine that the bad guy is Styne, but can't find much else so the head back to the bunker...Followed by Eldon Styne! DUNDUNDUN. Meanwhile, Rowena and Charlie are bickering over technology and life. Rowena reads Charlie pretty well, determining they are not so different which Charlie is not okay with. Cas returns with snacks to help lighten the mod but to no avail. Back at the bunker Dean is researching blithely away until Sam's phone rings (Sam's been getting mysterious calls all day ) It's Cas, again, calling for help with Rowena and Charlie, but he can't tell Dean that which leads to an awkward and adorable conversation between the cuties.

Cas hangs up before Sam can return. Dean pointedly asks if Sam has heard from Cas lately and gets more lies. Worried, Dean heads out for Pizza, which he gets along with Stynes. He takes down one attacker and subdues Eldon, who is brought back to the bunker. The other guy goes looking for Charlie. Charlie, who, by the way, apparently cannot work with Rowena around and is begging Cas to let her take her stuff and go work somewhere in peace. Cas refuses because it's not safe.

Back at the Bunker, Styne is being interogated but the boys together, then just Dean as Sam leaves to take another call from Cas. We learn some things: the Stynes were harvesting body parts because the family uses them to augment themselves, which is why they're so resilient. If that whole body part stealing thing sounds farmiliar, it's becuase they're the FRIGGIN' FRANKENSTEINS. They apparently changed their name ofter Mary Shelly blew their cover. They used the book of the Damned to do evil and mayhem for fun and prophet and they want it back. This is where Dean learns the book cannot be destroyed...and he need to have words with Sam.

Cas has taken Rowena into timeout, just in time to conveniently learn she's Crowley's mother and returns to the main room...to find Charlie gone. She's taken off to decode alone. Not good. Also not good is Dean confronting Sam about the book and the lies...just as Cas calls to tell Sam the bad news. There's not time for a big freak out becuase Eldon breaks out of the dungeon and makes a run for it - BY RIPPING OFF HIS ARM. Hardcore.

The boys are on their way after Eldon but lose his trail in the rain. Dean is furious at Sa for the lies, even though Sam tells him they were all doing it out of love. Eldon calls Eli, who has found Charlie at a motel and tells him to wait for him to get there before going after her. Charlie is oblivioujsly decoding inside and finally cracks the codex! Just in time for Mr. Evil to knock at the door...Charlie hides in the bathroom and calls the boys. They beg her to give the Stynes everything she has - which is pretty much the translated book, which would give the bad guys serious evil mojo again - but Charlie refuses, instead using her time to email the book  so it can help Dean and the smash her computer. As the Stynes bust in she raises her knife bravely to fight them...

Then we had a really stresful commercial break.

The boys make it to the motel and bust in to Charlie's room only to find the room torn apart...and Charlie dead.

Yeah. It sucked and next week it looks like Dean will be looking for revenge.
