QUEER NOT COOL sets its sights on "James Bond, 007"
Featuring comedian MICHAEL MARTIN plus musicians LAWRENCE & LEIGH, MINQ VAADKA and LOU VALENTINE covering classic Bond songs
In honor of the upcoming release of the James Bond 007 film "Skyfall", QUEER NOT COOL explores everyone's favorite secret agent this Saturday November 10th!
This month's QUEER NOT COOL is hosted by comedian ROB RIBAR and will feature comedian & musicianMICHAEL MARTIN ("Thin Skin Jonny", "Made Up Musical", the "Piefolk" blog), Brooklyn by way of San Francisco musical duo LAWRENCE & LEIGH, punk-burlesque artist MINQ VAADA and NYC veteran singer-songwriter LOU VALENTINE (ex-"Nuns"/Jennifer Miro) interpreting classic James Bond theme songs, plus a Vodka martini demonstration, James Bond trivia and much, much more!
QUEER NOT COOL is produced by STEPHEN GRIBBIN and ROBERT RIBAR for FEMME FATALE THEATER. Queer nerds and their fanboys and girls unite in this monthly late night series as comedians, musicians, dancers, and performance artists share their geeky obsessions, ranging from sci-fi to Sondheim. Forget the closet, get out of your mother's basement! Past performer credits include "The Tonight Show", "Today", "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon", "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams", "Comedy Central Presents", Logo's "The Click List" and the critically acclaimed web series "The Outs" and "It Gets Betterish". This past October, QUEER NOT COOL was also be featured at New York Comic Con 2012.
QUEER NOT COOL will take place SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10th at 10:30pm at THE SECRET THEATRE (44-02 23rd Street, Long Island City, Queens). For transportation, take the G, 7, E, or M trains to Court Square or the NR trains to Queensboro Plaza. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Cheap drinks and snacks will also be available for purchase.

MICHAEL MARTIN
Michael Martin has been performing improv for more than 12 years. In New York, he has performed as a member of the Chicago City Limits National Touring Company, as well as with the CCL resident company. He has improvised in the long-running Made Up Musical and performs with Lincoln Center's Meet the Artist Series: Improvisation. He maintains a popular gay blog "PieFolk.net", and writes comedy songs with Thin Skin Jonny.

A punk-burlesque performance artist on a crusade to bring epic theatricality back to both the look and sound of rock music, drawing heavily on influences that run the gamut from the gender-bending glitter rock of David Bowie to the darkly cabaretic sounds of Tom Waits. Performances have included his sold-out debut at Joe's Pub.

Having experienced or grown up in most of the musical scenes of the latter half of the 2Oth century (a veteran of the NYC punk and no wave scenes and later as a member of the new wave group Reporter and the legendary Nuns with Jennifer Miro), Lou Valentine is probably more uniquely prepared than most to reimagine the works of the classic composers through a more accessible and relaxed prism. Having come up through the worlds of rock, punk and glam rock, he brings a lifetime of disparate influences to the table in tackling these iconic tunes, releasing them from the stuffiness and dreaded cabaret hell that most of them have been consigned to, and placing them in a more cemporary context, rendering them more accessible and bringing out their inherently colorful original flavor.
