Big news, Sailor Moon fans! The Sailor Moon reboot has a release date, cast information, and character designs! The Anime News Network reports that these announcements were well recieved at The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Project Special Stage Event.
The reboot, titled "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal," will premiere on July 5th, and be streamed through the Niconico web streaming service. For those of us in the states, Niconico will be streaming the subbed episodes twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays of each month, at 6am EST. Plan those Sailor Moon slumber parties now, folks! You can all stay up, watch the new episode, and then sleep all through Saturday. That's what I'm planning to do, at least.
Kotono Mitsuishi will be reprising her role as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon (Serena Tsukino in the English dub), a role that she started 22 years ago, with the first release of the Sailor Moon anime. Kotono said, "I want to hurry up and meet moving Usagi again." She is very excited to be playing Usagi for a second time, and looks forward to re-living the Sailor Moon experience with fans, as well as creating new experiences and new fans.
